Windows 8 has a lot of new features, some good, some not so good. Missing the start button and the classic bar can sometimes be quite annoying, but with the help of some shortcut keys you won’t miss it!
Below is a short list with the most helpful shortcut keys and what they do.
Windows + D = Will show you your desktop (If in “Metro” it will show your active application)
Windows + M = Will minimize all windows (If in “Metro” it will show your desktop with all applications minimized)
Windows + Q = Will show you the “Apps window” and the searchbar so you can search all installed apps.
Windows + W = Will show you “Search settings”
Windows + E = Opens the explorer (Same as clicking on “Computer”)
Windows + R = Will open the “Run” window
Windows + X = Will show you a menu with the most frequently used administrator tasks
Windows + L = Will lock the computer
Ctrl + Shift + Esc = Starts the task manager
It might take some time to get used to these commands, but after a few days you won’t be missing the traditional bar and certainly not miss the start button.
